8 of my self-published articles.

I’m writing this short piece in the hope to be discovered by a big boy publication or even an Editorial and also so my best work doesn’t die.

The reason behind me self-publishing all the articles below is because I felt as if they did not fit into a publication that I am currently listed as a writer for, because I was under pressure to publish to fit in with my time schedule or because I felt they were slightly too good to be put into a publication for free or should end up in one of the big boy…

Read whatever tickles your fancy!

I have been writing on Medium for two months now. After looking back at a handful of my first ever published stories, I can see how far I have come with my writing which is a wonderful feeling and a beautiful sight to see.

I decided to touch them up slightly, not change the content just space out the paragraphs and correct some grammer. These aren’t the best written pieces, I do not want to completely re-do them as I am proud of my writing regardless.

Without further ado, please find below a list of my first ever published stories…

I hit all the criteria, so what happened?

So, it turns out Medium has its favorite writers! A handful of writers over the past week have received a beautiful email telling them they are eligible to apply for a Creator Program — similar to the one that was available for NewsBreak.

From what I hear, for a minimum guarantee payment of $200 a month you have to publish four times a month, have a minimum of 200 followers, and write high-quality articles.

Maybe I don’t earn enough for them to give it to me. If $200 is the standard minimum payment, and I’m earning half for example, then…

Why I never plan to go into retail again.

At the age of 16, my dad told me to go and get a job. The youngest age one is eligible to work in the United Kingdom is 16, so he wasn’t wasting any time with that one.

My search began right away as I knew I had to begin saving for university in the next two years. I wasn’t too picky over where I wanted to work as I knew money was money no matter what, I just didn’t want to work for minimum wage. …

This severe condition which affects 10% of women worldwide is still overlooked and ignored.

Period pains hurt. For some women, period pains hurt bad. For some women, period pains hurt really bad. For some women, their period pains are so bad they’re diagnosed with endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb starts to grow in other places, such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes.” — National Health Service

Unfortunately, endometriosis is a term that has recently been picked up in society, and there’s still a lot more research to go. 10% of women around the world have been diagnosed with endometriosis, which is approximately 176 million.

Three ways on how to effortlessly save money.

Photo by Jan Antonin Kolar on Unsplash

The magic head-turning word — money. We would all do anything for it. I’m sure everyone has gone through at least one (or five) phases in their life where they realise they need to claw back on a pretty penny or two.

During my time as a student, I hit this phase when I genuinely needed to save everything that I had as best as I could as I barely worked through my time studying. …

Do you have writer’s block or writer’s burnout?

Photo by Pete Willis on Unsplash

Guess who has hit a funny stage whilst writing? Me! I’m sitting here trying to think of subjects to prep myself for the month, and nothing is coming to me. I have a few drafts that I’m working on but no words are being transferred from my brain to my fingers.

I am hungover as hell right now, so that might be why, be either way I just feel like I’ve hit a huge wall. …

It started off great but now we go our separate ways.

Side note: This post was inspired by Laquesha Bailey and her recent post on her reasons for cancelling her Vocal Media subscription.

I know what I’ve said before about Vocal Media. I was singing its praises, recommending everyone to join, and licking butts with other creators. Well, that time is now done. Let me go through a number of reasons why I’ve cancelled my Vocal Media + subscription for the final time.

Other creators kept stepping on my toes

Being one of the first to discover Vocal Media meant I got to watch it grow — at a rapid rate — over 2020 and 2021. I had…

Where hiccups come from, what causes them, how to treat them, and advice for babies and infants with hiccups.

Photo by Simone Secci on Unsplash

Hiccups are one of the most annoying things a human body can produce. I can be having a great conversation, then all of a sudden I can’t carry on because hiccups have decided to come out and play. I can be sitting down and doing nothing, but my chest keeps violently bobbing up and down because I keep hiccupping.

I had hiccups the other day, and it occurred to me that I have no idea how they are formed, what organs are involved or what triggers them. …

These are the four p’s you should live by.

Photo by Brett Jordan on Unsplash

In November 2019, I feel like I hit rock bottom in my life. My career was not on the right path and after about five different interviews, I still had not got the job that I had wanted, but nearly everyone else in my office at my level got promoted. At the same time, my relationship had gone down the drain and my life was just in pure stagnation. Nothing was moving anywhere, it just got seemed like I was going backward.

Every day — without fail — I would see the number 11 or 11:11. I knew that they…
