I have been writing on Medium for two months now. After looking back at a handful of my first ever published stories, I can see how far I have come with my writing which is a wonderful feeling and a beautiful sight to see.
I decided to touch them up slightly, not change the content just space out the paragraphs and correct some grammer. These aren’t the best written pieces, I do not want to completely re-do them as I am proud of my writing regardless.
Without further ado, please find below a list of my first ever published stories…
I’m 24 years old. For nearly four years I had been working part-time in retail until I was made redundant and the experiences I had whilst working in retail still haunt me to this day. For nearly three years I have been working 9–5 like the vast majority of the world population. It’s been fun, both have their pros and cons, I’ve learned a lot about myself, about money, about how the world works, and I’ve met some glorious people. However, I can happily say I am ready to retire.
Obviously, this can’t happen as I have another 48 years…
I read my first self-help book the other day called ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Bryne. Many know about this book for describing the Law of Attraction and how it had helped Rhonda and many other great philosophers in their lifetimes.
But here’s the thing, the author makes out as if there’s only one Law in the Universe. In fact, the vast majority of self-help books that you pick up if they are based on the topic of spirituality, will only describe the Law of Attraction and how you can make it work for you.
Well, I’m here to tell you…
When I first started writing, I was on it every day. My little fingers typing away at the speed of light, not understanding why I hadn’t found Medium before and how it’s even possible to hit a writer’s block.
This is the longest time I’ve taken off from writing on Medium since I began in October 2020 — the last time I published was Saturday 27th March. My goals are to publish three/four times a week, but this has not been feasible currently.
Why? There are actually a few reasons. Firstly, life happens. I’ve got things to do and positive…
Side note: I picked this image because I thought it was hilarious. The guy is typing but the screen is black!
In December 2020, I submitted an article about publications that I recommended for new writers and guidance for new writers. Come March 2020, a lot has changed on Medium — including the publications everyone wants to submit to.
The wait for editors to accept your work has indeed got longer as Medium is growing more and more popular every day. People’s patience is wearing thin and it shows! …
Do you remember being a kid in school on the playground, and having hula hoops? I can ever remember having to hula hoop for sports day. Thanks to trending Tik Tok videos and YouTubers — hula hooping has made a popular comeback.
Currently, I’m in the midst of completing a 7-day hula hoop challenge. You’re meant to hula hoop for 7 days in a row for 20 minutes a day. Personally, I do slightly more than this when I’m bored and sometimes end up going for a bit longer. …
Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) videos are new to my life. Many friends and family members had recommended these videos a while back — constantly banging on how amazing they felt afterward. I simply just nodded my head and carried on with my day.
These past few weeks I’ve been experiencing an abundance of stress looking for a place to move out, selling my car, and trying to find a new job. Usually, sleeping is not a problem for me but due to these three factors, I’m struggling.
So, I decided to go onto YouTube and put on some ASMR…
We perform good deeds every day. Whether it’s as small as holding the door open for someone, letting someone out of their driveway, and just saying please and thank you to larger acts such as volunteering to feed the homeless or giving a sum of your money to a charity. All of it all counts.
If you’re reading this now there’s a strong chance you’re a writer. If you’re not, well you’re about to learn something about us writers. …
Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Donald Trump, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerburg. They’re some of the most common names that we hear about in the media every day. We know these men are extremely rich — too rich for that matter — and have billionaire status.
As March 2021 is National Women’s Month, I decided I would write this article to remind people that female billionaires exist too. Mackenzie Bezos was the last female billionaire I heard about in the news is and the whole fiasco was surrounding her divorce from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, the poor woman. …
Following the tragic events of Sarah Everard that have been revealed in the United Kingdom, I have decided to write this article. For those who do not know what happened, I’ll describe the short story. Sarah was walking home from a night out in South London but never reached home. Her body was discovered a few days later in a body bag, and a London Metropolitan police officer has now been charged with murder.
The events have sparked outrage on social media with the hashtag #NotAllMen. What is the meaning behind this? It means that we as women know that…
